Ulster Town Board adopts battery storage facility environmental review scope

NY ULSTER — Ulster Town Board unanimously adopts environmental scope for battery storage system project. The board determined the Alcazar Energy Storage System at 430 Hurley Avenue in Kingston will require a draft environmental impact statement and reserved the right to demand additional analysis or mitigation measures during the review process. The board also authorized the town planner's office to apply for a Greenway Commission grant to begin a comprehensive plan update, with awards expected in June and a second grant application planned for next year to continue the planning process.
Water Superintendent John Rose retired after 40 years of service, with his final day as operator on April 14.
