NY ULSTER — Ulster Board votes to pursue grant preparation for Brigham Lane sewer extension. The board unanimously authorized Supervisor James E. Quigley to sign three consulting agreements totaling up to $15,500 for a CFA grant application, with an additional $20,000 transferred from the Landfill Closure Reserve Fund for preparation expenses, subject to permissive referendum.
The six-year-old initiative aims to extend public sewer to the low-lying Brigham Lane area along the Esopus Creek, where septic systems are contributing to creek contamination. The board also unanimously supported a feasibility study for passenger rail service on the Hudson River's west side and approved a new water billing code for the East Kingston Water District.
