NY ULSTER — The Ulster Town Board appointed Jason Krakowski permanent Water Superintendent, formalizing his temporary role after his predecessor's April retirement. Krakowski acknowledged the department's recent loss of 70 years of combined experience when two long-serving operators departed. The board also unanimously settled two tax certiorari disputes: Kohl's property assessment reduced from $4.6 million to $3.4 million effective 2026-2027 with no prior-year refunds, and Tractor Supply's 2025 assessment held at $2.6 million with a 2026-2028 equalized value of $3.8 million at 41 percent.
The board authorized $20,000 from the Landfill Closure Reserve to match a Hudson River Valley Greenway grant for comprehensive plan preparation and approved three new hires at the Police, Court, and Water departments.
