NY ULSTER — The Ulster Town Board approved an amended site plan for Kingston SS Partners self-storage facility expansion at Route 28, voting unanimously despite Ulster County Planning Board recommendations for flood evacuation planning and rooftop solar arrays. The project will add three buildings containing 253 units and 28,200 square feet of floor area. The board also held three public hearings on other development projects, continuing them for 30 days of written comment: a four-unit multifamily building (J Rich), a motel conversion of 1767 Ulster Ave. (which drew opposition from Police Chief Kyle Berardi citing social-services motels' impact on police response, and from resident Jessica Canicio expressing displacement concerns), and a proposed local law to add Zoning Board of Appeals alternate members.
The board authorized referral of the Creek Meadows site plan, a 176-unit multifamily residential development, to the Ulster County Planning Board for review.
