Town Board adopts comprehensive ethics law, expands oversight board to five members

NY ULSTER — Ulster Town Board unanimously adopted a comprehensive ethics law while expanding the Ethics Board from three to five members after hearing concerns from ethics committee member John Iannotti about the composition and due-process protections. The board designated itself lead agency for environmental review of a proposed 150-megawatt, four-hour battery storage facility near Kingston, classified as Type I under the State Environmental Quality Review Act with potential impacts to wetlands and bat habitat. Town Clerk Suzanne Reavy was authorized to solicit four Ethics Board applicants.
The board also hired full-time police officer Gianni Calister at $29.68 per hour and part-time court officer Duncan Scott Bey, Jr. at $28 per hour, and authorized stop signs on Glenerie Boulevard following resident traffic concerns.
