NY ULSTER — Ulster Town Board clears environmental hurdle for 250-megawatt battery storage project, scheduling public scoping hearing for February 23. Supervisor James Quigley and board members unanimously accepted revised environmental assessment documents for the proposed Alcazar ESS lithium-ion facility at 430 Hurley Avenue, triggering a requirement for a full environmental impact statement. Town Clerk Suzanne Reavy reported tax collection at 79 percent of the annual warrant as of February 5, four days ahead of last year's pace.
The board also unanimously promoted Detective Javier Castaneda, the department's first bilingual detective in its 25-year history.
